Because the videos about Hit By Pitch are a series and best viewed as a group sequentially, they begin on Page 2 even though this page still has two empty video slots (to be filled eventually).

Obstruction - Safe
Good call! Difficult mechanic. It seems very clumsy to umpires to have to signal an obstruction and then follow immediately with a safe signal. Often umpires end up signaling only the safe because since she is going to be safe they reason that the obstruction doesn't matter…but it does. Other runners might need to be placed and, in the college game, defensive players may need to be warned.

Obstruction
Pay attention to what the defense does - it is not what it appears they are going to do

Extra Eyes
Excellent use of the mechanic of the non calling umpire providing another look at a play where the calling umpire could possibly get blocked. This is R1 stealing second and use of Extra Eyes by U1

That's Nothing
You have to look closely for the umpire making the signal way on the right side of this short clip

Batter Interference
This call usually generates a lot of confusion and questioning because a lot of the time only the umpire has seen the infraction - everyone else is watching the action elsewhere

Umpires nearly always learn from their mistakes. It's a fact that others can learn from their mistakes too.

If you recognize an umpire in a video illustrating a mistake, rather than disparage him or her, realize the video may well prevent others from making the same mistake.

When you umpire a game you become, for practical purposes, part of the public domain. That means pictures of you can be used in the paper, on websites, on You Tube and so forth as long as no money is being made from their use.
